Number of witnesses: 5
Number of objects: Numerous.
Shape of objects: All were lights of different color.

Description: Again, there was numerous lights of different color at times flying in formation. These lights would change direction at any given moment at speeds that were not possible by military or commercial aircraft at that time that I was aware of.
We were up in the mountains and could not find a motel so my father parked off the road so we could sleep awhile. My mother was awake and was the first to see them and awakened me and the rest of the family, my brother, my sister and my dad. We all saw them for many minutes.
I am 67, my brother is 69 and my sister is 71. My parents are deceased.

Leigh, Greater Manchester UK A Diamond Shaped Orange/Red Light
Date: December 24, 2008
Time: Approx: 7:30 p.m.
Location of Sighting: Leigh, Gr Manchester.
Number of witnesses: 5
Number of objects: ?
Shape of objects: Diamond at first then round.
Full Description of event/sighting: On Christmas Eve at approx 7-30 pm my wife and I were driving up Wigan Road, Leigh, Lancashire, when I noticed a diamond shaped orangey/red light with colour inside the shape, hovering over houses on my right side just after the Royal Oak Public-house. I also noticed a group of people on the left hand side of the road in front of the Chinese take-away looking up at the light.
My wife and I discussed the light as we were driving towards it, as we were approaching I asked my wife to see if she could see any detail as we drove up to and past it. My wife's description was what I was seeing. We turned right at Tennyson Avenue and got out of the car to have a better look. The diamond light was now behind us in the same area as before. I considered it to be over 100 feet up but not much higher. The light was the same as we saw when driving past it while in the car. A lot of other people must have seen it.
I decided to go home and use my binoculars on the light, as we were nearly home. On reaching home I looked in the direction of were the lights had been, while my wife looked for the binoculars, I could not see anything. We looked for five minutes then went in. Shortly after (about 20 minutes) I had to go out to the garage. I noticed the light again (same direction) and called my wife, I also made neighbor aware of the orange light. During the next twenty minutes the light moved slowly upwards from a static position from slightly over the houses to nearly directly overhead, then disappearing through a gap in the clouds. Once it disappeared, the light re-appeared back in the same position over the houses, it did these 3 times. My wife said there were 2 other lights close to the orange light on the first movement up, but I only saw the one.
During both sightings there was no noise. If the object had been an aeroplane or a helicopter, we would have clearly heard the engine noise. The whole sighting lasted 40-45 minutes. Shortly after the lights had disappeared, an helicopter came from behind us travelling fairly fast going in the direction of were the lights had been static we heard the noise of the helicopter before we saw it and heard it all the time it took to travel to the area were the light had been.
Thank you to the witness for their sighting report.

Ross On Wye, Herefordshire, England Round Orange Light
Date: December 25, 2009
Time: 19.38, and again at 20.12.
Number of witnesses: 3
Number of objects: 3
Shape of objects: Pale orange, round
Weather Conditions: Dry, cool, very still and quiet. Some cloud higher up.
Description: Taking an evening walk around the block to work off our Christmas dinner, my 16 year old son and I Saw a pale orange light stationary in the sky to the West. My son asked me what it was. I began to say I thought it was a star, but then as we watched it began moving, right to left horizontally across the sky in front of us. Speed was constant/steady. After perhaps 20-30 seconds the object appeared to turn away from us and disappeared. As we peered up into the night sky, miraculously a second identical object appeared, just where we had seen the first one initially. It was not static, but was already moving at the same constant speed, again right to left. It too was clearly visible for approximately 20-30 seconds before also turning away from us and immediately vanishing from view. There was absolutely no sound. A dog walker also observed these lights and paused for a while to watch them close to where we were standing. We did not discuss with him however because he then walked away in the opposite direction. I was baffled. Tried to think of an explanation for my son but could not. I estimate the lights were perhaps half a mile away and perhaps 100-150 feet up in the air (although it is hard to be precise in the dark). We continued our on walk, but then on our way back home later, at 20.12, we saw a third orange light perform the same silent sequence. I am not a UFO watcher and am open minded either way. I note somebody else on this site saw something similar on Christmas night in Monmouth, which is just ten miles West of here, and so that is why I am logging our sighting now.
TV/Radio: Not that I am aware of - although I haven't actually looked.
-----
UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:
Hi John,
Thanks for your e mail.
In fact I had already watched the video clip of these balloons and what we saw on Christmas night was nothing like that.
All three pale orange lights followed exactly the same flight pattern: right to left, perfectly horizontally before seeming to turn away from us and vanishing completely. There was absolutely no sound.
My son, who at 16 has sharper eyesight than me, could also make out a disc shape beneath at least one of these lights and so I have told him to log his sighting on your website.
I neglected to mention that when the second orange light turned away from us and immediately disappeared I noticed - very briefly - a small red light (within the overall orange light) which appeared to flash twice. Not sure what this was, but it was very feint.
I have never seen anything like this before and cannot think what these lights could have been. Seem to have been a number of similar sightings logged however. Any idea what they might be? Kind regards.

Newcastle Beach, Newcastle, New South Wales A Bright Orange Object
Date: December 28, 2008
Time: Approx: 8:00 p.m.
Number of witnesses: Multiple
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Square.
Weather Conditions: Crystal clear.
Description: My partner and I were driving around the beach when we both spotted this bright orange object in the sky. Both of us were like, "what the hell is that?" We pulled over to the side of the road, where there were multiple people looking at it. It was hard to describe - square looking but with an orange glow at the end. It fluttered about, and came closer and then started to move away from us. So, still keeping an eye on it, we moved slowly down the road,
where it just took off at lightning speed and disappeared.
I have been hesitant to report it, because I just had no idea what it was & thought it was perhaps something to do with the Christmas period. But I have scanned the internet and found there were other sightings in other countries similar to this.

Hi John, I'm a regular reader of your site and submitted my own sighting just recently. Just tonight whilst looking at the recent additions for late last year, I noticed you put a link to UFO balloons on one of them and I took a look. This looks to be the same thing my partner and I saw recently (I believe I stated the date was 28th December 2008.) So just thought I would let you know. Takes the excitement out of it, but I'd rather be thorough in this than lead anyone astray - including myself! Kindest Regards.

Walton, south of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England Orange Spheres
Date: December 31, 2008
Time: 22.15 and 00.28
Number of witnesses: 2 on 1st occasion and 4 on second occasion
Number of objects: One first sighting and two on second sighting
Shape of objects: Orange spheres but with some apparent solid form within the light
Weather Conditions: High cloud but otherwise clear
Description: The first sighting was by myself and partner from Shay Lane, Walton looking south. A large orange light (size in total of a helicopter) appeared rising from about 25/30 degrees above the horizon. It was about 400 - 500 yards away and maybe 150 feet up. It ascended almost vertically (to 11 o'clock as we watched) over a period of perhaps 2 minutes, getting smaller as it gained height until it disappeared into the cloud base.
The second sightings were initially by my son who called my partner, my daughter and me outside my home on Shay Lane, to see two similar objects - orange lit orbs with some discernible solid shape inside the light - again in the south, which also ascended, becoming smaller as they got higher until they too disappeared into the cloud base.
One appeared and began ascending towards 11 o'clock and, just before it entered the clouds and disappeared, a further light appeared much lower in the sky, as did the first sighting, and then began a slow ascent, less vertically and more towards 10 o'clock, again disappearing into the clouds.
They moved at a speed comparable with an ascending helicopter but there was no sound. The movement was controlled - no sudden changes of direction.
They were definitely NOT fireworks, lasers, aircraft, helicopters, balloons or any other object we would think of.

Number of witnesses: 1
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: A round orange ball
Weather Conditions: n/a
Description: It appeared in the sky coming towards the house. I initially thought it was a light aircraft on fire, as a flight path for Robin Hood airport goes over the house. I thought it was going to go out of sight over the house but it moved sharp left onto Westgate Road and stopped above the public house. The colour then started to fade into a faint red. I opened the window but could hear no sound whatsoever. It hovered there for approx 2xminutes before slowly moving back towards the M180 motorway.

UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:
Hi John, I have looked at the site, and no, what I saw looked nothing like it. As I said it was an orange ball and my immediate thought was something was on fire. When it was hovering over the Wheatsheaf Public House which I can see clearly from where I live, it changed in colour to a faint purply red for a good 2/3 minutes before moving off. Living under a flightpath, I know it wasn't an aircraft or an helicopter as these fly daily to Santoft airfield half a mile away. What was also strange was it just seemed to "appear." I can only say that I was amazed at what I saw that night and will never forget it. Kind Regards.

Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Round glowing light.
Full Description of event/sighting: My partner my 10 year old son myself and our next door neighbour were standing in our garden having a New Year drink when we noticed a bright orangey-red glowing light coming towards us about 60 feet above the ground. At first my partner thought it was possibly a helicopter but as it approached us we realized there was no sound or other lights coming from it. Suddenly it stopped just for a few seconds and changed direction heading closer directly above us it suddenly stopped dead and started to it looked like it was on fire breaking up like the remaining embers of a firework disintegrating then suddenly the red light shot out and over the houses roofs directly opposite us heading in a totally different direction.

Worthing, West Sussex, England Large Orange Orbs In Formation
Date: January 1, 2009
Time: Between 12.15 to 1.05 a.m.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of objects: 10
Shape of objects: Large orange orbs, flying in formation.
Weather Conditions: Freezing, fairly clear sky, no wind or breeze, dark night.
Description: I was outside with my partner, welcoming in New Year and watching fireworks over the rooftops nearby, when we noticed 3 large orange orbs flying towards us, high overhead, just inland of the sea, moving directly East to West. They moved at constant speed but in a clear triangle formation. They were large orbs or balls, and bright orange in colour. They appeared to be flying as high as usual commercial aircraft would over this area, estimate maybe 15,000ft, but with no sound or blinking of lights (we're both very familiar with various aircraft lights, living on flight-paths of Gatwick, Heathrow and a small local airport). These were much, much larger than aircraft lights, and much brighter, steady orange lights.
Given the height they were at, they must have been of considerable size!
They reached a certain point in sky, still over the coastline, almost directly in line with the house, then seemed to shoot upwards and vanish one after another.
Several minutes later, another 3 appeared from same direction, and followed exactly the same sequence and triangle formation, reaching the same point in sky, in line with the house, then suddenly moved upwards and vanished.
I took a short video on the mobile phone, but it has not captured them anywhere near as clearly as could be seen with naked eye. I took a few still pics also, but these have come out as showing the objects as white circles or disc shaped, and not as clear or bright as what we could see ourselves.
We couldn't take our eyes off them, even though we were freezing cold and would rather have gone back into the warm house, we stood there discussing what we had seen. My partner is very logical and analytical and tried to find a possible rational explanation but couldn't find any to fit what we saw.
We were still stood discussing it when another 3 appeared, and again they followed the same path and formation before moving upwards vertically and vanishing, one by one, in the same spot. Then a final one, travelling alone, and seemingly much brighter and larger than the previous ones flew over. This too disappeared upwards in same location.
There was no wind, and no logical explanation for the triangle formation, flight path nor the sudden upwards movement before vanishing. They were definitely not fireworks, and from the size, height, speed, flight path and formation (and sudden upwards movement before vanishing) they definitely weren't balloons, planes or helicopters. We did wonder if they could be something related with the military, but we are within commercial airspace here, and even then we could not work out what sort of military craft could disappear so suddenly like these things did, or move so silently.
We were both 100% sober (non-drinkers) , nor are we taken to flights of fancy. My partner has never seen a UFO before. I've had one brief daylight UFO sighting in the past, witnessed by others, but am not a UFO spotter or anything of that ilk.
Later on, we joked about not going outside alone in case one of us was "beamed up", we were only joking about it, as neither of us is afraid of being outside in the dark or anything like that, however, the fact is we were both a bit spooked by it. There was a strange and eerie feel about the whole thing. We both felt (independently of each other) almost as if maybe we had been spotted, or had been watched by these things, before they disappeared in the same spot above the house. We each had a sense that maybe they were watching us as much as we were watching them! Sounds strange, but true.
It's certainly given us something to ponder in 2009!
There may be plenty of other people who saw them? It was New Year, so quite likely a few folks were outside watching fireworks? Would be good to know if anyone else saw these unidentified flying orange lights!
-----
UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:
Hello,
I did check the balloons video. It's possible this is what we saw, but I wouldn't have expected balloons to fly in such exact formation, nor suddenly ascend at exactly the same spot and vanish, especially with no wind, unless by large coincidence. Also, these looked more clearly like lights, as opposed to flames. But we'll keep an open mind. Best wishes!

There was no sound at all with this object.

No definitely not, the object we saw was moving in a straight line above us at the speed of a plane, or even faster, my sis and her husband are very much skeptics, they are both geologists, by the end of the sighting my sis agreed with me she didn't know what it was and her hubby kept saying it was a plane that turned off its lights but and a couple of nights later we saw a plane at night in the sky which looked totally different its white light was flashing and it had green and red flashing lights and was on a totally different flight path also way smaller. Not only that for a plane to be that low we would have heard it and we didn't.
There was no wavering at all like the weather balloon, and this one was very bright white.

We can definitely confirm that this was no firework, aeroplane or even a flare, it totally shocked and stunned us for what seemed hours and were all in a trance but this must have only been a matter of 1-2 minutes.

On Thursday 1st Jan I was about to go to bed when I looked out of my front window and saw an orange light which isn't unusual as I live on the flight path of Liverpool Airport. But then I noticed another light very close which did make me think bloody hell those two are close together. They seemed to be coming towards me, again I thought aeroplanes, but then I saw another light behind the first two then a fourth. I went outside it was a clear night but freezing cold I called my girlfriend to see them and as I watched I realized they weren't coming towards me but going upwards. There was no sound and they hung around for about 10 minutes. Is there anyone you can put me in touch with from the Bromborough area I could speak to or have you heard from anyone else about this?

Hi, The images I saw were uniform in colour and didn't appear to have a light source ie candle or bulb. The formation appeared to be far from random. The object at the front was the same distance ahead of the pair in the middle, as the one at the rear was away from them. The pair rotated from being side by side to above and below. Straight after this manoeuvre all four objects ascended staying the same distance way from each other. I would say that the objects were solid powered and controlled rather than paper balloons being guided by the elements. I am trying to find a lead to plug my phone into the computer, when I find it I will e'mail you the image I have. Regards.

Shape of objects: Round orange glowing balls.
Full Description of event/sighting: The extract below was taken from another website. http://www.ufoinfo. com/sightings/ uk/080102. shtml
My experience echo's this, with some variations on times and objects , though the object was exactly the same.
It was about 7.40 pm, I was driving home down Hawthorn Street in Clytdebank towards my home in North Clydebank. I looked up in the sky over Clydebank straight above me and could see this orange glowing ball in the darkness not too far away from me and was travelling horizontally at speed. I stopped to rub my eyes as I thought it was an airliner on fire about to crash to the ground. It then stopped dead in the sky and kept glowing and stayed there for about 10 seconds completely still and at this point I rubbed my eyes again and stopped a guy in the street to make sure he could see it. He was looking into the sky with our jaws dropping, then the orange ball went straight down in a horizontal line and just disappeared, exactly the same as the sighting below. Glad other people seen it. Hopefully we can get an explanation!
Thank you to the witness for their sighting report.

Shape of objects: So incredibly bright and shocking, it's hard to say, but I think diamond shaped.
Weather Conditions: Cold, starry, many (7-9) jet lines marking the same area of the sky.
Description: Between town and the airport (but I know for certain that it wasn't any lights from the airport) a florescent green light flew over the highway from east to west faster than any regular aircraft. We only saw it for about 10 seconds, and then it vanished.
TV/Radio: We called the radio station KIX 101 to report it.

Wombourne, Staffordshire, England One Bright Orange Light
Date: January 3, 2009
Time: 12:45 a.m.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of objects: 3
Hi, My husband and I have just seen what we believe to be an unexplained sighting in Wombourne, Staffordshire. Driving home around 12.45am 3rd January saw one bright orange light approaching from east. Pointed it to my husband saying looks like helicopter but with an unusual light. Seemed to be searching.
Then we saw another one a short distance away and then another. Moving fairly slow. We had stopped the car at this point to watch and even got out of car. The light from all three was a constant, very orange, much like a sodium street light. We had killed the engine to listen - but no sound what so ever. No apparent green, red lights. As we watched we decided to move just around the corner to get a better view over open field. They seemed to form a triangulation and then gradually disappear. This was one of the clearest nights with a mass of stars.
We drove towards a local small airfield & then on towards a military airfield but saw nothing else.
On looking on your sight for sightings I noticed the one for Xmas day over Telford Shropshire - approx 10 miles away. Sighting seems very similar.

UFOINFO Note: As with other similar reports I asked the witness to have a look at the UFO Balloons website to see if this is what might have been seen and received the following reply:
Hi John,
Thanks for your response.
I have looked at the video footage. Very interesting but I don't think it was balloon/lanterns.
The lights were very constant - quite solid/strong. Very much like a street light both in strength n colour.

East Brunswick, New Jersey UFO Moving Fast And Erratically
Date: January 4, 2009
Time: 2:00 a.m.
Location of Sighting: East Brunswick, NJ.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Round with raised center.
Full Description of event/sighting: To the naked eye, the object was a flashing still light, mostly white, some blue, and big flashes of red. We video taped it and played it back frame by frame. When we played it back, it actually was moving, fast erratically and other colors (green mostly) could be seen. When we paused certain frames, there are clear pictures of a round object with a raised center and 3 indentations from the center to the outside of the object. It moved so fast that the span of movement that appeared to us in real time on the DVD seemed to last several seconds but was actually only 1 second long. The object moved out of sight and instantaneously reappeared closer. The event began for us at approximately 2:00am and we watched it until around 2:30. At one point in time, we could still see it in the sky, but there was no image on the playback on the DVD, just tiny white flashes of the object as if it had moved farther away all over the screen.
I am not so arrogant to believe we are the only life in the universe, but I am a skeptic. This was not a star, planet, satellite, helicopter, airplane or anything else within "reason". The video speaks for itself. It has re-appeared tonight at around 12:50am but we are unable to get it on camera. Also, the Canadian geese are flying in whole flocks in the middle of the night. Please feel free to contact me by email.
Thank you to the witness for their sighting report.

Smyrna Beach, Florida Large Bright Orange Object Seems To Explode
Date: January 8, 2009
Time: 9:45 p.m.
Location of Sighting: To the left of 95 south exist, New Smyrna beach over trees.
Number of witnesses: 2
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Almost circle, irregular.
Full Description of event/sighting: At first when I saw the object, I thought it looked like the moon exploding. It had to have been very large, my brain had to make logic of it, so the moon exploding were my first thoughts. I had my attention on it the whole time it was insight. It was glowing a very bright orange, in some areas brighter than others. It was like some sort of fission lighting like the sun. It was low to the ground, approximately at a 20 to 25 degree angle from where I was looking. I believe to the southwest over the trees about half a mile before the nsb exit heading south on 95 is when it came into sight. I watched it the whole time as my girl friend was driving to get off the off ramp to nsb. She also witnessed the object. We kept looking at it until we got onto 44 just passed the Shell station where it was out of sight because of the tree line and it being so low to the ground. We went back to investigate more but, by the time we had gotten back to our original location, it was gone.

Stewiacke, Nova Scotia A Fast Moving Cigar Shaped UFO
Date: January 9, 2009
Time: 9:15 a.m.
Location of Sighting: Stewiacke NS.
Number of witnesses: 1
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Cigar shaped.
Full Description of event/sighting: An object to my right at about 2 o'clock high caught my attention as I was driving along the 102 between Stewiacke and Shubenacadie exits, just after crossing the Shubie river bridge. There was a very bright reflection from it and it had a mirror like finish. The sun was to my left and was hidden from my left vision by my visor. At first I thought it was a plane, about the size of an F18. It began to turn in an arc in front of me and then I noticed that it had no wings. There also was no vapor trail. It could have been about 1000 feet up or so. It moved very fast, after it finished the arc to the south, it sped away from me in a straight line and soon became just a shiny speck, then disappeared. The whole sighting lasted about 5 seconds as it was moving faster that any aircraft I have ever seen.
Thank you to the witness for their report.

Full Description of event/sighting: I looked up to see like a large orange shooting star with a trail that was very high and very fast moving heading towards Wissey round about, over Fair Road, Wissey Bradford, West Yorkshire, approximately 6:45/7:opt. With no means of camera or anything to record, you only have my word. I'm sorry, but was very weird. The trail and the light disappeared? Sauchie, Alloa Near Stirling Glasgow UK Orange Glowing Ball Of Fire
Date: January 9, 2009
Time: Approx: 8.20 p.m.
Location of Sighting: A907, Sauchie, Alloa near Stirling.
Number of witnesses: 1
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Orange Glowing Ball with fire like appearance over Sauchie, Alloa near Stirling.
Full Description of event/sighting: After dropping a work colleague off at his home in Alloa at 8.10pm, I carried on my journey home to Falkirk. After driving through the village of Sauchie heading towards the new Clackmannan Road Bridge along the A907 I glanced up and was astonished to see a large bright orange ball like object in the sky. The object was moving in the opposite direction to me heading back over to the village of Sauchie and was around 200 to 500 feet above the ground.
I tried to stop the car so I could look back and keep track of the object but because of traffic behind me, but I was unable able to pull over until another mile further up the road at a parking stop. I stopped the car there and looked back towards the direction I had come from, but I could no longer see the object.
This thing was extremely strange looking which is why it caught my attention, a bright orange glowing ball, the edges of the ball had what looked like fingers of flames or some sort of fire like appearance, not large flames just noticeable at the edges of the ball shape. I only saw the object for around 8 to 10 seconds as it was moving towards me as I drove, but it was strange enough for me to know it was not a plane or a helicopter because the object was beneath the very low cloud cover, along with the fact it looked like no aircraft I have ever seen.
Thank you to the witness for their sighting report.

Middleton South Leeds UK A Circular Orange Colored Object
Date: January 9, 2009
Time: 6:40 p.m. to about 8:00 p.m.
Location of Sighting: South Leeds.
Number of witnesses: 4
Number of objects: 1
Shape of objects: Circular.
Full Description of event/sighting: Dear Brian, I came across your name whilst searching online this morning for UFO sightings. I have to tell you what happened to us last night. I live in Middleton South Leeds. An old friend of mine had called to see me at about 5:30 pm. We had a cuppa and when he was leaving, I went outside with him to his car to say goodbye. This was at 6:40 pm. It was him that pointed the "light in the sky" out to me. It seemed to be very high up, but very bright (I don't believe it was a star}it had a sort of orangey glow to it and seemed at times to flash. It was stationary, not seeming to move at all which intrigued me. I continued to watch it from outside and rung my daughter who lives a couple of streets away to see if she could see it. She was so intrigued that she came round to my house to get a better look, and whilst she had initially said it was a star, when she saw it, she had the same thoughts as me. We watched it until 7:30pm and it was in the same spot constantly.
We did notice however that there were a lot of aircraft flying around over the top and underneath "the light". We are on the flight path to Leeds Bradford airport, but at this time of year we don't see as many planes as there were last night. We guessed we had seen at least 15 to 20 planes on the space of 30 to 40 minutes. We came inside at about 7:40 because it was so cold, and when we went outside at about 7:45, the light had moved a considerable distance over to the right and further into the distance. Very strange.! My daughter and her partner went in the car to see of they could see what direction this light was going and she rung me from her mobile and said it seemed to be in the direction of Churwell hill (near Morley). They then had to go and see one of their friends, but when they returned via the same route, the light had totally disappeared. We tried to take photographs on our mobile phones and did catch something, but as you'll understand the cameras on them aren't that good. This has intrigued me so much, I would love to find out more. thanks for reading this. yours sincerely.
Thank you to the witness for their sighting report.
