The witness writes:

"I  grew up in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.  While I was in public school in the mid to late 1970"s there were many sightings of UFO's over Lake Ontario between Niagara-on-the-Lake and Toronto.  The extension of Queen St. that is the main street of the town extends to an old cottage area called Chitoquia (webmaster's note: spelling could be Chautauqua).  The street runs along the shoreline of Lake Ontario.  There were many sightings and my parents, sister and I would drive along the roadway in the evening.  I can recall seeing I believe three lights that would glow brighter and then fade out.  Sometimes they would join together, become brighter and then fade and disappear.  We saw them on many occassions and other cars would line the roadway also watching.  They were expected and people would just go to look on a regular basis.

I recall on one occasion when the lights were moving toward Niagara-on-the-Lake instead of across the sky in a horizontal direction above Niagara.  I was so scared I was screaming at my father to move the car.  The Niagara Advance Newspaper had articles about the sightings and photographs made on the roadway in Chitoqua.  A  local aeronautical engineer told us that a plane could not create the brightness of the lights and make the 90 degree turns of these objects.  On one occasion all three lights joined together, went brighter and then faded and disappered. My girlfriend whose home backed onto the lake saw lights enter the lake.  I always wondered what these lights were.  One day they just stopped appearing.  I think they were around 1974 and on but I am not positive of the date."
