The Inge House (as it is known today) was built by Ingimundur Eiriksson (always called Ingi, and signed himself I. E. Inge) an Icelandic settler. It is located near the Foam Lake Marsh viewing tower in an area which is considered to be the first Icelandic settlement in Saskatchewan.

There are rumours that Inge House is haunted possibly by one of the early settler's children who reportedly died from severe burns. This appears to be just a rumour with no substantiated reports at least none that we could find at this time. It is said the locals and visitors to the area have heard strange sounds emanating from the house, which may or may not have contributed to the belief that it is haunted.

We received the following in August 2011

"Hi, I was just visiting this website and would like to add my experience to it as well. My boyfriend has family in the Foam Lake area and in August of 2004 we were actually staying at his Grandma's farmhouse a couple of miles away from Inge's house outside of Foam Lake for a brief visit. One evening we decided to go over to the house as we had heard rumors of it possibly being haunted. My boyfriend's grandma had told us about Inge and his family as she had been born and raised in the area. There were about 6 of us who went over and it was after dark when we arrived. We were in the house probably 5 -10 minutes and a few of us were upstairs when our friend cried out she saw a woman in one of the upstairs bedrooms. And the eerie thing is, at around this time 2 or of our 3 flashlights were flickering out. We all left immediately. But upon returning to the farmhouse my boyfriends grandma's farmhouse, our friend who had claimed to have seen a woman described a woman almost identical in appearance to Inge's wife. His grandma actually had a picture of her and showed us, it bore a striking resemblance to our friend's description...  I just thought I would share as we all were quite spooked by the whole thing and definitely felt an eerie unwelcome feeling while in Inge's house."

"I had to comment on this post. That house belonged to my husband's great grandma and grandpa. I find it quite funny reading some info online about this house because rumour is that all of her children died . Well, if this is true, how did my husband come about. And there youngest daughter is still living that we know of. It is fun to read though. We toured this house and took lots of pictures. I did get one picture that looks like a boy in a window and a shadow in a door way.I had lots of pictures that looked like stuff but could easily explain it except this one. When we first pulled up it looked like a lady standing in a wedding dress in a second floor room. But when I went into this room it was the wall paper that made it look like a woman.I had to go back out and take a picture of how I saw it. I love this house. It has great history. And because they are my ghostly relatives they aren't scary at all and I know they would be harmless."

Our thanks goes out to the family member for sharing their experience with us.
