 Fort San circa 1920s

Fort San near Fort Qu'Appelle is a well known Saskatchewan haunt. It started out as a sanatorium that housed tuberculosis sufferers in a self sufficient setting. In the 1970's it was converted to house the Saskatchewan Summer School of the Arts, which sadly closed after 30 years due to a lack of funding.

According to Jo-Anne Christensen author of Ghost Stories of Saskatchewan apparitions of a nurse from its days as a TB sanatorium have been sighted, along with the sounds of creaking wheelchairs. People who have visited this site also reported feelings of being choked and of being out of breath.

At the time this report is being added to this website we have come across some reports stating that Fort San is due to be demolished (2009) but have not been able to verify any demolition date or plan.
